As the summer yacht charter season nears its peak, several popular charter fleets have added yachts in destinations all around the world.

In the Bahamas, Fraser just welcomed the 107-foot Burger Silver Seas. It’s a 1998 build that most recently was refitted in 2022, and that will base in the Bahamas all year round. Accommodations are for eight guests in four staterooms that can be set up for families or groups of couples. This yacht charters with an Intrepid tender for watersports fun.

Up in New England, Edmiston has welcomed 168-foot Feadship Acta to the charter fleet. Acta is a 2007 build that accommodates 10 guests in five staterooms. Equipment includes Quantum zero-speed stabilizers for guest comfort at anchor, and the yacht has a wheelchair-accessible elevator and side deck. The master stateroom is on the bridge deck with expansive views.

For charter clients seeking more exotic locales, IYC has just added the 131-foot Westport Rule No. 1 to its fleet, with inquiries being accepted through September 2025 for Panama, Mexico and Costa Rica. Rule No. 1 is a 2011 build that most recently was refitted in 2023, with accommodations for 12 guests in five staterooms. This yacht charters with a 37-foot Freeman tender for fishing, and has toys that include an inflatable slide.

Also available farther afield is the 75-foot Sunreef Diana, a sailing catamaran that’s in French Polynesia as part of the Y.CO fleet. Diana is a 2017 build that just completed a refit this year. The yacht accommodates eight guests in four staterooms. Amenities and crew services include a hot tub, a fitness trainer, a masseuse, a yoga instructor, and various water toys.

In Croatia and the West Mediterranean, the 137-foot Kingship Ocean’s Seven has joined the Fraser fleet. This is a 2012 build that was most recently refitted this year. Interiors on the yacht are by Vripack, with five staterooms for 10 guests. The master spans the full beam on the main deck and has a king-size berth.

Are there any options being advertised for scuba diving? Indeed, Edmiston says the 154-foot Feadship Lady Victoria is still accepting inquiries this summer in the Bahamas, and is offering scuba diving right from the yacht. Accommodations are for 12 guests in six staterooms, with a master that has its own deck and a VIP on the main deck. The swim platform can be extended and raised for diving, or submerged for guests who want to step right into the sea.

Five notable yachts just became available for charter in the West Mediterranean, with plenty of time left to book itineraries before the current season is over.

First up is Zazou, a 213-foot Benetti that launched in 2021. It’s new to the charter fleet at Y.CO, with plans to base in the South of France and Corsica. This is the first time that Zazou is being opened for charters, with availability beginning mid-August.

“Ideal for families, she is elegant and sophisticated thanks to her stunning interior,” Sioned Williams of Y.CO Charter Management stated in a press release. Notable features include a gymnasium, treatment room, outdoor cinema and beach club. Accommodations are for 10 guests in five staterooms.

Y.CO also just welcomed the new-for-2024 Benetti Dyna to the charter fleet in the Mediterranean. Dates are available in September and October.

Accommodations aboard Dyna are for 12 guests in six staterooms. Amenities include a main-deck pool, a cinema, a spa and a master stateroom with a private balcony.

“Dyna is a particularly fine example of the B.Now 50m Oasis model,” Yasmine Naitijja of Y.CO Charter Management stated in a press release. “No expense has been spared in the finishes throughout. The spa area is a real onboard highlight, as is the large main-deck pool, while the stylish Novamarine Black Shiver chase boat offers enhanced exploration.”

Also now available in the West Mediterranean is Alma III, a 97-foot Azimut that was just delivered to the owners from the shipyard in June. It’s part of the Fraser charter fleet and will have availability in August from Sardinia.

According to the Fraser team, Alma III is the only Azimut Magellano 30 currently on the charter market. Exterior design is by Ken Freivokh, and accommodations are for 10 guests in five staterooms. The master is full beam on the main deck.

In the IYC charter fleet in Greece, guests can book the 82-foot Maiora El Pecado, which became available earlier this summer. The yacht is a 2014 build that IYC’s team says is in “impeccable condition” with accommodations for as many as nine guests in four staterooms.

Notable features and equipment on El Pecado include low fuel consumption and at-anchor stabilizers for guest comfort.

Also in Greece with IYC is the 107-foot Custom Line My Mistake, a 2023 build that accommodates 10 guests in five staterooms. The IYC team notes that this yacht has a child-friendly setup, meaning it is a good choice for bookings with families.

Top speed aboard My Mistake is reportedly 26 knots, which should make short work of cruising between the Greek Isles while leaving more time for fun at anchor and in harbors.

When does the Mediterranean yacht-charter season end? The high season is over at the end of August, but with nice weather, the cruising in some parts of the region can be terrific well into October.

Most crewed charter yachts ply the waters of the Mediterranean each summer, and then the Caribbean during the winter. But there also are usually a handful of yachts that head off the beaten course to destinations far more exotic, where charter clients can book vacations that are only occasionally available at all.

Three yachts are offering exotic options for yacht charter in the upcoming seasons, for fans of motoring and sailing alike.

The first yacht on this list is Sherakhan, a 228-foot Vuyk en Zonen motoryacht that’s part of the charter fleet at Y.CO. This longtime favorite vessel on the charter-yacht scene is heading to Antarctica from December 2024 through March 2025, with a lowest weekly base rate of about $640,700 for 26 guests in 13 staterooms.

Sherakhan’s crew includes members who have chartered in Antarctica before, meaning they are familiar with this cruising ground that is unfamiliar to most people on earth.

The second yacht heading to an exotic destination is the 282-foot Vitters/Oceanco Aquijo, which is also part of the Y.CO charter fleet. This mammoth sailing yacht is in Central and South America this winter, and has plans to charter in the South Pacific during the upcoming summer season.

Aquijo accommodates 12 guests in seven staterooms, with a lowest weekly base rate of about $544,000. Onboard features mirror what is often found aboard power-driven superyachts, including an elevator, a master stateroom with a private terrace, and a beach club with a steam room, sauna and hot tub.

The third yacht offering charters in an exotic destination is the 110-foot Alloy motoryacht Akiko, which is available for bookings in Australia’s Kimberley region, on the Great Barrier Reef and in Papua New Guinea.

Akiko is a 2007 launch that had an extensive refit and then returned to the charter market in 2023. Recent upgrades include a hull extension, an interior refit and fresh paint. The crew includes a local guide who specializes in adventurous expeditions. Accommodations are for 12 guests, with rates and availability details through 26 North.

Y.CO has just welcomed the 298-foot Lürssen Lady Lara to the charter fleet. The lowest weekly base rate is $1.4 million for bookings this winter in the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The yacht is also listed for sale—at more than $254 million—for the first time since the German shipyard delivered it in 2015. Y.CO’s Max Bulley and Gary Wright, along with Merle Wood of Merle Wood & Associates, represented the yacht at the recent Monaco Yacht Show.

“With Lürssen quality and stunning Reymond Langton design, Lady Lara is an exceptional yacht that was conceived with family living in mind,” Wright stated in a press release. “Her adaptable spaces, variety and flexibility, in addition to all the amazing features like the breathtaking spa area, the beach club and two pools, are ideal for multigenerational groups and put Lady Lara into a league of her own.”

Accommodations are for 12 guests in their choice of eight staterooms (for private use, the yacht is built to accommodate 16 guests). Six of the guest staterooms are on the main deck, with one on the lower deck. The master suite has its own private deck with an exterior terrace, outdoor hot tub, and indoor library. The aft-deck space in the owner’s area is called a “winter garden,” with sliding glass panels that can be closed to shelter diners from the elements.

There also are two cabins for owner’s staff or supernumeraries, in addition to the yacht’s quarters for 27 crew.

Onboard amenities include an aft-deck pool whose floor can be raised to create a dance floor. A sound system on this deck helps to create a discotheque-style environment for parties. There’s another pool up on the sundeck, this one with a swim-up bar.

On the bridge deck, guests have access to the spa, which includes a hammam, massage room, treatment room, beauty salon and gymnasium. Guests who prefer to get their exercise outdoors can do so from the beach club at water level, which has a steam room and a sauna along with a sunbathing area.

For rainy days and relaxing nights, the lower deck aboard Lady Lara includes a cinema. There’s also a touch-and-go helipad on board, if guests want to escape to a different spot up the coast.

How fast can Lady Lara cruise? According to Y.CO, the yacht has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, which is plenty fast for exploring the islands.

With the winter yacht charter season about to kick into high gear in the Bahamas and Caribbean, several top management companies have welcomed notable motoryachts into their fleets.

Perhaps the largest yacht in this category is Samsara, a 290-foot Oceanco that recently joined the Y.CO charter fleet. Brokers are now accepting inquiries for winter charters in the Bahamas and Caribbean (and for summer 2024 bookings in Greenland and Iceland) at a lowest weekly base rate of $1.1 million.

Samsara is a 2015 build that most recently was refitted in 2023, with accommodations for 12 guests in seven staterooms. This yacht has a private owners’ deck, swimming pool, gymnasium, massage room and hair salon, along with an elevator for guest use. “Her seven-cabin layout is ideal for multigenerational groups or two families traveling together,” says David Price of Y.CO Charter Management. “It offers the flexibility to suit many kinds of charter groups.”

Meanwhile, over at Edmiston, two notable yachts have joined the charter fleet.

First is Wayfinder, 223-foot powercat that Astilleros Armon built in 2021. This yacht has an unusual layout, with 11 en suite staterooms (nine singles and two with twin berths) for 12 guests, along with quarters for 20 crew. It can be booked as either its own charter yacht or as a support vessel for more traditional charter yachts.

Wayfinder has an open aft deck with a helipad that doubles as a pickleball court. This yacht also has belowdecks storage for six tenders and four Sea-Doos. The lowest base rate to book a week in the Caribbean is $300,000, with inquiries also being accepted for the Mediterranean and other destinations in summer 2024.

Also new to the Edmiston charter fleet is the 164-foot Home, a 2017 Heesen that will be in the Bahamas this winter at a lowest weekly base rate of $245,000.

Home accommodates 12 guests in six staterooms, and charters with nine crew. Interiors are by Cristiano Gatto—Edmiston describes them as “crisp, light-filled and Ibiza-inspired.” For outdoor fun, the complement of tenders and toys includes a 34-foot Jupiter towed tender, a 21-foot Williams jet tender that can reportedly hit 35 knots, Sea-Doos, standup paddleboards, skis, inflatables, snorkeling gear and scuba equipment.

And, last but not least, IYC has added the 162-foot Christensen Remember When to the charter fleet, with bookings available this winter in the Bahamas at a lowest weekly base rate of $230,000. It’s a 2011 build that was most recently refitted in 2020, with accommodations for 12 guests in six staterooms. An elevator services all four decks, and the full-beam main-deck master has a private office.

Is it too early to call for summer 2024 yacht charter bookings? Nope. In fact, IYC also just welcomed the 90-foot Sanlorenzo SAL to the charter fleet. It’s a brand-new build for 2023 that’s currently accepting bookings for the West Mediterranean, Croatia and Montenegro in summer 2024.

The market for brokerage yachts becomes a loudly buzzing hive of activity around the autumn boat-show season, with brokers making big sales pushes before, during and after the shows. This year, the good news for brokerage buyers is that quite a few respected brands of yachts are available, with styling and performance capabilities that can suit all different types of cruising plans.

Here’s a look at a few of the yachts for sale on the brokerage market right now, along with the features that make each of the yachts worth a look.

Sunseeker 95 S-Cape

The Sunseeker 95 S-Cape is a 2017 build with a top speed of 26 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots, according to sales broker Mark Elliott at IYC. He describes the yacht as being “in immaculate, turnkey condition” at an asking price of $5,499,000.

Accommodations are for 10 guests in five staterooms, including a split-level, full-beam master on the main deck. Guest spaces for relaxation are indoors and outdoors, including outdoor dining options. Elliott says S-Cape is also charter-ready for an owner who wants to offset some ownership costs with charter income.

Mangusta 109 Dopamine

The name Dopamine says it all about this Mangusta 109, which is for sale through broker Alex G. Clarke at Denison Yachting. Top speed is 26 knots with a cruising speed of 21 knots, and with the Volvo Penta engines showing just over 1,000 original hours (the IPS is still under extended warranty on the 2021 build).

Ten guests are accommodated in five staterooms, including an on-deck master. There’s a hot tub on the bow with a lounge area, making this yacht a good option for buyers who want privacy while moored stern-to at the marina. The asking price is $13,250,000 for this yacht, which also has a sizable tender garage for a RIB and toys.

Go-Anywhere Ability

Several of the yachts on the brokerage market right now fall into the explorer category, which means they’re built with features and systems that allow them to cruise farther for longer periods of time away from the dock.

Buyers who have an interest in exploring remote destinations, as opposed to hanging out closer to shore, might want to consider these listings.

Vitters Dardanella

The 121-foot Vitters Dardanella is listed for sale with Y.CO at an asking price of about $9.47 million. The Dutch firm Vripack designed this yacht, whose reported range is 5,400 nautical miles at 9 knots.

“Dardanella isn’t like other explorer yachts on the market today,” says Y.CO sales broker Max Bulley. “The vessel was built to explore and was not converted from another life.”

Dardanella was built in 1996 and was most recently refitted in 2018. Accommodations are for 10 to 12 guests in five staterooms, including a full-beam master. The yacht is also available for charter through Y.CO at a weekly base rate of $125,000 in Costa Rica.

Lürssen Ice

The 295-foot Lürssen Ice is for sale through broker Gregory Gheraia at Blackorange Superyachts. Built in 2005, Ice has a reported range of 6,000 nautical miles for world cruising.

Asking price is about $103.5 million for Ice, which underwent what Gheraia calls “a massive refit” from 2019 to 2021. Exteriors are by Tim Heywood with interiors by Terence Disdale. Features include an elevator that services all decks, accommodations for 14 guests in seven staterooms, diesel-electric Azipod propulsion, Quantum Zero-Speed stabilizers and an aft-deck swimming pool.

Classic Styling

Buyers have quite a few options on the brokerage market today for yachts with traditional lines that never go out of style. These classically styled vessels come in various lengths with an array of features, and are often used for cruising with friends or family.

Here’s a look at two of the classically styled options for sale on the brokerage market today.

New England Boat Works Sea Bold

The 96-foot Sea Bold is a custom, fast-expedition yacht with a C. Raymond Hunt hull and construction by New England Boatworks. Delivered in 2003 and refitted in 2019-20, Sea Bold has an asking price of $2,999,000 through 26 North Yachts.

The build was done with Kevlar and carbon fiber epoxy for a lightweight, strong hull that can achieve a high-speed cruise of 22 knots. The top-end is reportedly 25 knots on Sea Bold, which retains a New England-style profile.

Features include a fully enclosed, air-conditioned pilothouse, stabilizers and a bow thruster for easier, more comfortable maneuvering on long-distance runs and in close quarters at the dock.

Hargrave Renaissance

The 116-foot Hargrave Renaissance is a 2016 build that’s offered through Hargrave Custom Yachts at an asking price of $8.75 million. This is a raised-pilothouse design with a hull by Jack Sarin and décor from Yacht Interiors by Shelley.

Accommodations are for 10 guests in five staterooms, including an on-deck master. Cruise speed is 18 knots with a top hop of 22 knots, according to the Hargrave team. The power package is Caterpillar C32 engines, with each one showing about 3,500 hours. At-rest and underway stabilizers are installed for guest comfort at sea.

CRN has unveiled details of the 229-foot Project Thunderball, a fully custom yacht with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure that was sold in August 2022.

Vripack drew the external lines and handled naval architecture on this yacht, while Nauta Design did the interior design and outdoor furniture. Y.CO handled the sale and is acting as owner’s representative and project manager.

According to CRN, Project Thunderball has lines similar to a sailboat’s, with an elongated bow, a low profile and curved bilges. The owner is a passionate sailor, so a smaller sailboat will also be delivered to accompany the mothership.

Expectations are for the owner to cruise in the Mediterranean, Florida and the Bahamas, with a focus on scuba diving, sailing and underwater fishing.

The 207-foot Benetti Soundwave, previously known as 11.11, has joined the Y.CO charter fleet. Inquiries are being accepted now for bookings in the Mediterranean.

Soundwave is a 2015 build that accommodates 12 guests in six staterooms and that charters with 15 crew. The master stateroom has a private sundeck and a hot tub, while the sundeck for all guests has a jet pool, dining and an outdoor bar.

“Well suited to many kinds of groups, she is a master of family charters; it’s the level of service, her amazing toy collection and her stunning interior that have made her an extremely sought-after charter yacht,” Tom Debuse of Y.CO charter management stated in a press release. “With many of her longstanding crew still on board, Soundwave is set to astound guests this summer.”

Y.CO has welcomed the 78-foot Sunreef power catamaran Kokomo to the charter fleet, with bookings available in the South Pacific and Australasia at a lowest weekly base rate of $90,000. Inquiries are being accepted starting in August.

Kokomo is a 2021 build that accommodates eight guests in four staterooms. Maximum speed is 23 knots, and the yacht charters with four crew.

“The team on board are committed to offering an experience which leaves guests feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, with a focus on healthy living and wellness—be it through the clean cuisine the chef prepares, a tailored workout program with the gym equipment or hours of active fun on the water with the impressive selection of toys,” Fleur Tomlinson of Y.CO Charter Management stated in a press release. “The yacht is ready to charter immediately this season and is set to cruise around the lesser-explored parts of Fiji.”

Kokomo’s healthy-living concept is no joke: The yacht has a gym with a reformer, a rowing machine and free weights, and members of the crew include a qualified personal trainer and a sponsored foil-boarder.

Oceanco says hull Y722, a 364-foot superyacht, has left the yard’s first-phase construction facilities in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, and moved to outfitting facilities in Alblasserdam.

Y722 is designed by Oceanco and Espen Øino International, with interiors from Mark Berryman Design. The project is a collaboration among Oceanco, YTMC and Y.CO. Oceanco says the vessel “embraces innovative technologies and has had some radical layout changes introduced that will challenge the perception of the traditional yacht.”

Accommodations are for 22 guests, with quarters for 33 crew. The owner has what Oceanco calls “scientific aspirations,” and the guest and crew quarters are somewhat combined, including the crew mess and dining room. The idea is to “create synergy between all those on board and encourage the mutual cultivation of ideas and passions.” The yacht will also have crew wellbeing areas, such as a gym.

Eco-friendly thinking has been part of the design process. Power will be diesel-electric for emissions-free, silent running. A waste heat recovery system and an advanced wastewater treatment system are also part of the build.

“Y722 will break new boundaries at Oceanco, with, amongst other things, her industry-leading noise and vibration characteristics, and the focus on usability and operability will bring a holistic comfortable experience for all aboard,” Dan Morgan, YTMC managing director, stated in a press release.

Charlie Birkett, CEO and co-founder of Y.CO, called Y722 a groundbreaking yacht: “This is a project with vast scope and vital ambition.”
