Trinity True Love
True Love is a recently refitted, 150-foot all-aluminum Trinity with a reported top speed of 22 knots. Asking price: $14.6 million. Courtesy IYC

IYC is advertising the 150-foot Trinity True Love for sale. The all-aluminum motoryacht is a 2003 build that had what IYC calls a “comprehensive refit” in 2023, and is being offered at an asking price of $14.6 million through sales consultant Scott Jones in the Monaco office.

According to various reports, True Love is one among six of the 150-footers in the same series that Trinity Yachts turned out of its yard in New Orleans. This vessel is also among dozens of yachts created under the Trinity logo over the years, until new ownership took over and then shut down the shipyard in 2017. The yard’s history dates back to 1988, when it was founded by John Dane in partnership with Billy Smith and Felix Sabates. Trinity was, at one point, one of the most prestigious yacht builders in the United States.

More recently, True Love’s refit work included the installation of new generators and teak decks; engine rebuilds in the machinery space, and updates to the electronics at the helm. Out of sight are new piping and water heaters, adding to guest comfort and systems reliability.

Also according to IYC, True Love has a maximum speed of 22 knots. Cruise speed is 13 knots, with range being 4,000 nautical miles.

Accommodations are for as many as 11 guests in five staterooms. The master spans the full 28-foot beam forward. There are quarters for 10 crew.

The yacht’s interior space has a warm vibe, created in part by the contrast of neutral tones and rich cherry woodwork. Courtesy IYC

Interior décor is by Claudette Bonville. Furnishings lean toward neutrals and whites, offsetting the rich cherry woodwork in the paneling and built-ins. True Love has gold-hued tray ceilings—a hallmark design element of yachts that came out of the Trinity shipyard—with golden pillows and accent pieces to match.

Up on the sundeck, guests have access to a wet bar, oversized barbecue, day head, hot tub and sun pads. Sun loungers are also here, along with a treadmill and a 55-inch flat-screen television.

On the aft deck, there are custom-designed dining tables that can convert into one or two daybeds. This means the aft-deck layout has four possible configurations, depending on whether guests feel like doing more lounging or enjoying more dining. A 55-inch flat-screen television is in this part of the yacht, too.

The asking price for True Love includes watertoys such as a pair of Yamaha Jet Skis and an 18-foot tender. It also includes a waterslide.

Where is True Love available for tours? The yacht is lying in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

With all the rigmarole that international travelers continued to endure this summer because of the pandemic and related airline issues, quite a few charter yacht owners decided to keep their boats in the United States—and more than a few owners sent those boats up to New England. This is great luck for anyone who has the ability to charter during the offseason months of September and October, pretty much anywhere along the coast from Rhode Island up to Maine. The summertime crowds are gone, the top marinas tend to have more availability for transient slips, and the changing of the seasons creates a natural bounty of breathtaking color ashore.

Yacht owners themselves are getting in on the fall fun this year too, creating even more charter opportunities after they leave their boats: “The owners of Miss Christine are going to use her in September, and we’re working on October inquiries for leaves changing and fall colors,” says Nicole Caulfield, charter manager at RJC Yachts, which has numerous yachts available in New England well into September and October (a few are shown below).

In addition to perennially popular waterfront stops around the region for lobster rolls, clambakes and bowls of piping-hot chowder, New England also has some special events planned that can be part of a charter itinerary this fall. In late September, Mystic Seaport in Connecticut will put on its 25th annual Antique Vehicle Show, featuring about 100 pre-1932 vehicles on display. In October, Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, will host the Newport Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival, with regional suds from Dorchester Brewing Co. and seaside-inspired craft cocktails from Cape Cod’r, among others. Also in October, the Nantucket Conservation Foundation in Massachusetts hosts a Cranberry Festival, which coincides with an islandwide shopping event called Cobblestones & Cranberries.

“We also have boats that will consider going to Maine through September,” Caulfield says. “The weather is still good, and it’s a pretty fall time. It’s great cruising.”

Acadia National Park

This picturesque spot in Maine is one of America’s 10 most visited national parks. Hikers can indulge in 148 miles of trails, which are separate from the miles upon miles of motor roads for cars, as well as the carriage roads for bicyclists and horseback riders. For a truly immersive experience, leave the boat for a night and reserve a space at one of the park’s four campgrounds. Early September is often ideal for smaller crowds and warmer temperatures in the park.
