The Pearl 62 is a practical family yacht, which replaced the 65 as the entry-level model in the United Kingdom-based company’s four-model portfolio, which includes the Pearl 72, the Pearl 82 and the Pearl 95. Atlantic Yacht & Ship Inc currently has a 2022 Pearl 62, Sea RV, listed with a $2.99 million ask. 

“Naval architect Bill Dixon’s studio draws all the Pearl boats,” Yachting previously reported. “Like previous Pearls, the 62′s profile is sporty for a design that packs full-size utility, which means a flybridge, cockpit, full side decks and a foredeck terrace. Lots of natural light adds to the sense of space inside; beyond all the glazing in the superstructure, there are aft-deck doors, hullside windows, a two-pane windshield and sunroofs between the top of the windshield and the flybridge.”

Sea RV has a luxury-edition Kelly Hoppen interior design and the standard salon layout, which moves the dining table to the port and aft settees. There are venetian blinds fitted to all cabins, the galley and the dining space aft. 

The foredeck is the perfect spot to catch some sun with a four-person bench seat abaft a three-person sun pad. If the midday rays are too harsh but you’re not ready to go in, guests can put up the sun shade. The cockpit is an alfresco space which is shaded by the flybridge overhang above and offers panoramic views.

Heading up to the flybridge, guests will find multiple entertainment zones including the L-shaped settee aft, the U-shaped dinette amidships to port and the bench seat opposite the upper helm station to starboard. 

After a long day on the water comes to an end, head belowdecks where four staterooms await. The full-beam amidships master stateroom has a rare aft-facing king berth and an en suite head. Forward, two guest staterooms split the centerline, each with twin berths that can convert to queen berths. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head.

Twin 900 hp Volvo IPS 1200 engines give Sea RV a 26-knot cruise speed and a 32-knot top speed.

Display, a Pearl Yachts 62, is currently listed with Atlantic Yacht and Ship for $3.35 million. This family-friendly, 2022 flybridge motor yacht features four staterooms and plenty of deck space for entertaining.

The Pearl 62 was first introduced in 2020, replacing the 65 as the entry-level model in Pearl’s portfolio.

“Like previous Pearls, the 62’s profile is sporty for a design that packs full-size utility, which means a flybridge, cockpit, full side decks and a foredeck terrace,” Yachting previously reported. “Lots of natural light adds to the sense of space inside; beyond all the glazing in the superstructure, there are aft-deck doors, hullside windows, a two-pane windshield, and sunroofs between the top of the windshield and the flybridge.”

It is outfitted with twin 900 hp Volvo Penta IPS1200s and reaches around 32 knots.

The four staterooms include a separate access, full-beam owners’ stateroom with an en suite, a VIP forward and twin guest staterooms to port and starboard. Guest staterooms also have sliders to convert from twin berths to queen berths for couples.

Additionally, Display has an optional en suite cabin for a crewmember.

The flydeck, foredeck and aft deck offer plenty of options for entertaining and dining with the family.

“Pearl Yachts latest new model boasts even more contemporary design, cutting edge technology, enhanced performance and versatility,” according to Atlantic. “The new Pearl 62 has been once again created by the successful collaboration between award-winning naval architect Bill Dixon and world-renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen.”

Step up to the flybridge on Display and the first thing you will notice is the hardtop covering the deck with a makefast sunroof, topside canvas and underside mesh. The flybridge is fitted with teak decking, upholstered seats with stowage underneath, a teak table, and a forward sunbathing area with upholstered seats. At the helm, you will find two Besenzoni STEALTH adjustment helm seats and a custom-made acrylic flybridge windscreen. Navigation equipment for Display is listed below:

The Pearl 72 is an owner-operator yacht that radiates mega-yacht features. For starters, there are two master staterooms among the four en suite staterooms. The room that Pearl calls the “master” has a private entry typical of larger yachts, leading to a room with a forward-facing berth, high-gloss black cabinetry and windows for natural light. Triple closets, six under-berth drawers and the en suite head with shower make this space livable for long cruises.

The “guest master” is amidships with a separate stairwell from the salon, another mega-yacht feature. It also has a forward-facing berth and a private entry from a short hallway. A double-berth guest stateroom is to port. A twin-berth stateroom is to starboard, where the en suite doubles as a day head, accessible from the hallway. All staterooms have 6-foot-4-inch headroom.

Naval architect Bill Dixon penned the 72’s elegant exterior lines, which include long glass sections in the hull sides and a wider, 18-foot-10-inch beam. Interior designer Kelly Hoppen, CBE, created three interior schemes. The 72 I got aboard had the Indulgence theme, a solid rendition of a Monaco (or New York or London) penthouse in onyx marbles, dark bulkheads, a dark sole, and a look that doesn’t distract from the view. That view, by the way, is vast, with the coamings on the side decks cut down to allow windows just 17 inches above the salon sole behind the sofas. Forward, the skipper and guests have an almost unbroken windshield stretching from the deck to the flybridge, with a 4-foot shade to keep the sun at bay.

Other interior decor choices include pale-washed woods or traditional high-gloss dark wood. For me, the design theme called Indulgence complemented this yacht’s exterior lines.

The galley is in the salon, out of the way and abaft the helm seats, with a Miele four-burner induction cooktop, a convection oven, a grill, and a wine chiller. Opposite is a full-height home-size Dometic fridge. A second galley is in the crew space, which also has double bunks and a head with a stall shower.

At the helm, the skipper and companion reside on seats that draw on luxury cars with deep bolsters and individual adjusters. This 72 had the optional pantograph door next to the helm, making for easy access to the side deck. The skipper has a glass dash with twin Garmin displays; a row of tidy, well-marked rocker switches; and controls for the Side-Power bow and stern thrusters. Humphree custom Interceptor trim controls are automatic for ease of use at all speeds.

Up on the bridge, the full-length deck protects the lower cockpit and has a dining table with wraparound seating, a wet bar with a Kenyon grill, forward seating with a cocktail table, and a sun pad or a hot tub. All this equipage is shaded by a fiberglass hardtop with louvers that allow full sun, full shade or a breeze.

Yet another dining area is forward on the main deck: a high-low table with wraparound seating that becomes a sun pad when the alfresco meal is over. A Bedouin-style sunshade on poles cools the area when needed. On the remaining foredeck, and protected by double-welded rails, is the Lewmar V6 anchor windlass with foredeck and helm controls.

The cockpit is set up with a standard removable full enclosure for cool or wet climates. This space also has boarding doors on both sides and, on this 72, the optional Opacmare passerelle.

In keeping with luxury homes, there’s a multi-vehicle garage—the transom hinges up to reveal stowage that handles an 11-foot-3-inch Williams Sportjet 345 and a Sea-Doo Spark personal watercraft, with room for water sleds and dive tanks.

To make boarding easier from the water or dock, the aft coamings fold down, and a transom panel lowers to form beach-club lounge seating.

Underway, the Pearl 72 has light but positive electric steering that provides enough feedback for experienced skippers to “feel” the boat. During my time on the water, the conditions were stay-at-home sporty, but the Pearl 72 had no problem with a turbulent Gulf Stream and, in fact, seemed to relish the challenge. I didn’t even get a chance to test the windshield wipers.

Engine choices start at twin 1,400 hp MAN V-12s. This hull of the Pearl 72 upped the ante with twin 1,600 hp MTU 10V 2000 M96Ls using ZF gear boxes. I saw 33 knots in spite of an uncooperative and lumpy ocean, and the 72 offered up a comfy 22-knot cruise at 70 percent engine load. The factory, in better conditions, reported a cruise speed of 25 knots with a range of 250 nautical miles.

The engine room is reached via the crew quarters or from the tender garage. Considering the array of powerplants and systems, this space is surprisingly accessible by way of a centerline diamond-plate sole. The 72 I got aboard had an additional 20 kW Kohler genset and a Seakeeper 18 gyrostabilizer and the standard Applied Marine Automation AC/DC system.

The Pearl 72 is an able and seakindly cruising platform with a double-master layout. Add the ability to personalize the interior space, and this is a vessel that should appeal to owners looking to cruise with friends in comfort and style.

Williams Sportjet 345

The Pearl 72’s garage is sized to house a Williams Sportjet 345, which accommodates five people and has a top speed of 40 knots. The tender’s 90 hp Rotax engine draws on 13 gallons of fuel, and there’s an aft boarding platform for easy access from the water or dock. For kids or new drivers, a power-limiting switch keeps things safe.

Seakeeper 18

Designed to be lightweight (2,460 pounds) while still reducing up to 95 percent of a yacht’s roll, this Seakeeper doesn’t eat up much engine-room space (it’s 42 by 43 by 32 inches). The dashboard control provides the skipper with a reading on how the roll angle has been minimized. With all the critical components sealed in a vacuum, they are protected from the marine environment.

Pearl Yachts in the United Kingdom has completed sea trials on Hull No. 1 of the Pearl 72, which is scheduled to make its public debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October.

Exterior design and naval architecture on the Pearl 72 are by Bill Dixon. Interiors are by Kelly Hoppen.

“The hull glass has been expanded for a more modern look, combined with the sporty stance, which she inherited from the recent Pearl 62,” Dixon stated in a press release. “The lines are as elegant as ever, now a bit sleeker and more streamlined, and the use of spheric glass gives her curves in all the right places.”

The Pearl 72 has what the builder describes as two master staterooms. One is forward with a private entrance, and the other is belowdecks, full-beam and amidships. Pearl Yachts calls this setup “an ideal solution for co-owners who enjoy the yacht together.”

Guests are accommodated in two additional en suite staterooms. There also are crew quarters and a garage that can hold a Williams Sportjet 345 tender and a personal watercraft.

Let’s talk about “indulgence”: That’s what Kelly Hoppen Interiors calls the theme of the Pearl 72s interior design, which aims to capture New York City urban living on the water.

The Sunseeker Predator 65 joins the range of Predator models from 55 to 74 feet length overall. It’s offered with Volvo Penta’s IPS1200 or IPS1350 powerplants, providing what Sunseeker says is a top-end speed of 35 knots. 

Owners have options with this boat, including the ability to add a wet bar or extended lounge seating aft. Belowdecks, owners can choose three staterooms for a maximum of six guests, an open-plan owner’s office, or a lower-deck galley or salon. 

The tender garage can be specified as a beach club with free-standing furniture, a rain shower, lighting and built-in speakers. Draft on the Predator 65 is a Bahamas-ready 5 feet, 3 inches, and fuel capacity is 924 gallons.

Vicem Yachts in Turkey is teasing a new line of center-console boats called the Tuna Master series. The first model will be the Tuna Master 37 CC, built in fiberglass—and also offered as an express cruiser. Each version will be available with dual- or triple-outboard engine packages from 300 to 450 hp. 

A top-end speed of 45 knots is projected with optional powerplants, while standard twin 300 hp outboards are expected to produce a top hop of 40-plus knots. Vicem says range for the Tuna Master 37 CC will exceed 350 nautical miles, with a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer on board for guest comfort. Carbon fiber and teak trim will be used in the design to create a yachtlike finish, and the hardtop will be built of carbon fiber too.

Vripack in the Netherlands designed this 196-foot vessel that Alia Yachts in Turkey has sold, with delivery scheduled in 2024. The owner is an experienced yachtsman who requested an ice-class hull for exploring the world with his family. 

Interior volume will be 810 gross tons with seven staterooms, including a master forward on the upper deck with a walk-in closet, an owner’s lounge and a private foredeck. The six remaining guest staterooms (two with twin berths and four with double berths) will be belowdecks, all accessible via an elevator that goes up to the yacht’s sun deck. Aft, the beach club will include a massage room, gymnasium, dive store, steam shower and what Alia calls a “chill-out zone.”

The Azimut Verve 42 got plenty of attention during its world premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida a few months ago. It’s a sibling to the Verve 47, which was designed for US yachtsmen and has sold at least 50 hulls to date. Even before anyone saw the Verve 42, Azimut had already sold 10 of the boats. 

With triple Mercury 450R outboards, the Verve 42 has a cruising speed of 33 knots and a top hop of 45 knots, according to the builder. The hull design is by Michael Peters, who has long been known for performance powerboats. Interior and exterior styling are by Francesco Struglia, adding Azimut’s Italian DNA to the package. For overnights, the boat can sleep as many as four people with one head.

The signature feature on the new Pearl 72 is the existence of two master staterooms on board. One is forward with a private entrance, while the other is a full-beam space amidships. The builder sees this layout as an ideal solution for couples who want to co-own a yacht, or for couples who cruise regularly with other couples. 

Guests are accommodated in two additional staterooms, each with a double berth. And there should be lots of natural light in those spaces, with exterior designer Bill Dixon having expanded the use of glass in the hull. Also note the full-length flybridge, giving owners options for how they want to lay out and use that space. Top speed, according to the builder, is 32 knots with optional 1,600 hp MTU engines.

The 62 has done well since its world premiere in Düsseldorf, Germany, a year ago; around 10 units have been sold, including Hull No. 3, which is the one I got aboard.

Lots of natural light adds to the sense of space inside; beyond all the glazing in the superstructure, there are aft-deck doors, hullside windows, a two-pane windshield, and sunroofs between the top of the windshield and the flybridge.

For the past eight years or so, the South Africa-born “Queen of Taupe,” Kelly Hoppen, has handled Pearl’s interior decor. The combinations she created for owners of the 62 are her signature brand of neutral, soft, calm, cool and soothing. The 62 I got aboard had the most popular veneer: a light reconstituted oak. The main deck had a galley aft and to port, with the optional dinette to starboard. Amidships was all lounge with picture windows, while the bridge and two helm seats were to starboard. This 62 also had an electrically opening side-deck door by the helm, an option I’d strongly recommend.

Thanks to the Volvo Penta IPS engine installation, which keeps the machinery well aft, and the placement of the fuel tanks beneath the owners’ berth, the 62 has space for a four-stateroom, three-head layout.

The full-beam owner’s stateroom is amidships, just forward of the yacht’s machinery space, with its own dogleg staircase descending from the starboard quarter of the salon. Owners have a few choices to make with this stateroom. The first is the location of the stateroom door, which affects whether the linen closet with a washer and dryer is inside or outside of the stateroom. The owners’ berth faces aft and has a vanity and stowage to port, with the option of a chaise-style lounge or a two-seat nook to starboard. The en suite is aft and to port with a shower stall.

The other three staterooms are accessed from a central set of stairs that descend from beneath the windscreen. The VIP with a double berth is in the bow with several skylights. Two twin-berth staterooms are amidships. The portside stateroom has en suite access to the head that also serves as the day head. The starboard stateroom also uses this head. Both of these twin-berth staterooms convert to doubles.

An optional en suite cabin for one crewmember can be placed in the space between the transom sofa and the engines. Access is via a concealed hatch beneath the sofa cushions. Owner-operators can specify the space as a PWC garage.

The tender launches and recovers from a hydraulic platform that moves aft before fully dropping down. A sweet spot in its actuation cycle creates a terrace on the sea with a beach-club vibe.

The 62 I ran was fitted with the largest available engines: twin 900 hp Volvo Penta IPS1200s, which delivered around 32 knots at just over the rated 2,300 rpm. Smaller 800 hp IPS1050s are available, but all of the 62s sold so far have been specified with the punchier blocks. With the yacht at around half-load—which means a light displacement of 70,400 pounds, 70 percent fuel, 30 percent water and four people aboard—the Garmin instrumentation recorded a speed between 30 and 32 knots in calm seas. Throughout the runs, the trim assist was off, but the optional Seakeeper 9 was running. At 2,000 rpm and 23 knots, the diesels burned 65 gph, which, given the fuel capacity of 726 gallons, translates to a theoretical range of around 260 nautical miles. Halve those revolutions per minute, and the speed falls to around 10 knots while the range climbs to about 600 nautical miles.

Handling is precise, and the turns can be relatively tight if the wheel is spun hard, but there is no dramatic lurching. The yacht inspires confidence in the skipper from both helms, and the joystick controls make for easier close-quarters maneuvers. Dynamic positioning is available as an option, and I think it’s worthwhile.

Constructionwise, Pearl’s yachts are laminated and mostly fitted out at the builder’s Chinese partner, Hansheng, and then finished in the UK (if Europe-bound) or Fort Lauderdale, Florida (for US owners).

Hull No. 5 is the first Pearl 62 expected to be delivered on this side of the Atlantic and could see a stateside debut as early as this spring.

I stared at the Pearl 62′s image above, switching back and forth between placing my thumb over the flybridge and then removing it. The exercise, to my eye, displays lines that appear inspired by an express cruiser—but with the added function of a flybridge. That flybridge does not distract from her sporty look and instead flows with the yacht’s superstructure.

Bill Dixon, who also penned the builder’s 80- and 95-footers, did the exterior design and naval architecture on the Pearl 62. Dixon drew motion into the yacht’s profile via the raked window forward, the curved glass reaching aft in the superstructure and the fiberglass line between the panes flanking the salon. That line rises up and aft, similar to the look of a wake breaking behind the transom. The flybridge hardtop’s supports lean forward, contrasting the sweptback look and adding sleekness to the yacht’s appearance. Hullside glass extends the profile visually, while adding light and views in the four-stateroom, three-head layout belowdecks.

There is a full-beam master stateroom amidships with an en suite head, two chairs and a table to starboard, and a private entrance from the salon. This stateroom’s volume is possible because the yacht’s Volvo Penta IPS diesels are farther aft than straight-shaft powerplants, increasing living space. There is a forepeak VIP with an en suite head. Abaft to port and starboard are guest staterooms with double berths.

The flybridge has a helm console to starboard with a sun pad to port. There is U-shaped seating abaft the sun pad, and two L-shaped seats are far aft.

Power options are IPS950s (725 hp), IPS1050s (800 hp) and IPS1200s (900 hp). Preliminary sea trials showed a reported top hop of 32 knots.

The Pearl Yachts 62 is the entry-level yacht in the builder’s flybridge series, which also includes an 80- and 95-footer. The 62’s exterior design is by Bill Dixon, with interiors by Kelly Hoppen.

There is a four-stateroom, three-head layout with three heads. The 62’s master stateroom has a private entrance to starboard off the salon and is full-beam with an aft-facing berth. There is an en suite head with separate shower stall. Flanking the berth is a vanity to port and a two-seat breakfast nook to starboard. Hullside windows let in natural light and work in concert with the lighting and light-tone fabrics to keep the stateroom feeling open and airy.

There are three guest staterooms, starting with a forepeak VIP with en suite head and step-up berth. Abaft the VIP to port and starboard are two twin-berth guest staterooms that convert to doubles. The portside guest stateroom has direct access to the third head, which is also accessed via the companionway. Like the master stateroom, all guest staterooms benefit from light coming in via hullside windows.

There is an option for a crew cabin aft, but most U.S. owners will likely use this space for PWC stowage.

The Kelley Hoppen-designed interior offers owners four themes: Modern, Studio, Taupe and Luxury. Owners can choose from a selection of materials to personalize their yacht’s interior, including items such as suede and Calacatta marble.

The galley, equipped with Miele appliances, is positioned aft in the salon to easily service guests in the cockpit and in the salon. Across from the galley is a breakfast nook with a table and two chairs. There is U-shaped seating forward and to port, and a settee and helm console to starboard.

Nearly 360 degrees of glass provides unobstructed sightlines from the lower helm, which has two seats. The 62’s power options are Volvo Penta IPS diesels, ranging in horsepower from 725 hp to 900 hp apiece (IPS950s, IPS1050s or IPS1200s).

Al fresco spaces include the cockpit’s U-shaped seating and dining table, a foredeck lounge with sun pads for four or more guests. The sun pads can also be shaded with an awning and four carbon fiber poles.

The flybridge has an extended deck aft with L-shaped lounges to port and starboard, U-shaped seating and dining table amidships to port. A sun pad is forward with the helm console to starboard. Abaft the helm is a grill and a wet bar.

Some notable options for the Pearl 62 includes a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer, hardtop with sunroof, hydraulic some platform and side boarding door, to name a few.

As with her smaller sisterships, the Pearl 65 and Pearl 80, Bill Dixon’s U.K.-based design studio was responsible for all the practical elements that make up this feature-rich semi-custom yacht. And, as with the Pearl 80, Kelly Hoppen created the 95’s high-style, low-key interior.

The Pearl 95‘s profile includes a great deal of side glazing. It is visually busy, but the long hull-side windows, with all the main-deck glass such as picture windows and ­dou­­ble-width doors, deliver vista views and vibrancy to guests looking out from the inside. And all the glass gives the yacht a sporty exterior look, one that creates the impression of a two-decker with a flybridge as opposed to the raised-pilothouse design that this yacht actually is.

The outdoor spaces aboard the Pearl 95 start with an almost 450-square-foot flybridge. A hardtop covers most of it, and an electric sunroof allows 150 square feet of ultraviolet exposure at the flick of a button.

On the foredeck is more prime real estate, whether used at anchor during the day or while moored stern-to in a marina at night. The yacht’s 21-inch-wide side decks, tucked inside 4-foot-high bulwarks, lead to a split-level setup. The main area beneath the windshield includes a C-shaped sofa, table and sun pads. The other level has a built-in sofa.

Aft is yet another relaxation space. The beach club has a ­couple of surprises, including two fold-down, teak-laid quartering platforms, which fit nearly flush with the hull when stowed (only the arcs of the joints are visible). When down, the platforms flare out the stern. Coupled with the hydraulic platform, they deliver a wraparound effect. Even with just the starboard-side platform down, there’s space for a small table and a quiet breakfast.

Given that the yacht’s maximum beam is almost 22 feet, the 1,737-pound-capacity hydraulic platform aft should take a 16-foot-­4-­inch-long tender. The garage, according to the builder, can hold a three-seater Kawasaki Jet Ski and still leave room for a wet bar. When left up, the garage door serves as a sun awning.

Inside, the decor is one of informal luxury. Muted taupes, milky whites, grays and browns soften the punch between dark chocolate, high-gloss wengé and the sheen of ice-white gelcoat.

The 95’s salon has a conventional layout: a lounge aft with a dining area forward. The free-standing furniture comes from the Kelly Hoppen Interiors collection. What makes this area special is the extravagance of empty space. Roughly one-third of the salon serves as a wide passage to the starboard-side companionway. When both sets of sliding doors are open to the aft deck, the salon feels doubly large.

From the starboard-side companionway amidships, guests can step down to four staterooms: two transverse doubles and two twins, all en suite.

The owner’s stateroom is forward on the main deck. Remember the glass from the exterior? The entrance to the master stateroom includes a walk-in closet, shelving and a vanity, beyond which are a forward-facing king-size bed, twin chairs, a table and a corner desk, but all eyes are drawn to the eight panes of glass that dominate the forward wall. There are four fabulous views out to the foredeck as well as four views skyward, with concealed blinds for privacy. The double-height side windows allow views for guests who are seated or in bed. In all, the master stateroom occupies around 247 square feet, with 87 square feet for the en suite head.

The Pearl 95 that I got aboard was Hull No. 1, and it had twin 2,400 hp MTU 16V 2000 M96s, ZF V-boxes and five-blade CJR propellers. At something over the quoted 209,000 pounds of half-load displacement with 11 people, 30 percent water and 100 percent fuel on board, the yacht managed just over 26 knots at full chat, shy of the builder’s reported 28-knot top-end. With pre-commissioning tweaks, she’d likely get there.

As for range, ­allowing for a 10 percent reserve, expect around 250 nautical miles at 2,000 rpm and 18 knots, and more than 1,000 ­nautical miles at 1,000 rpm and a 10-knot plod. Pearl Yachts promotes a range of 420 nautical miles at 13 knots — and the builder is open to more than the listed engine options. The American owner of Hull No. 2 reportedly opted for a hybrid system with Caterpillar generators and lithium-ion batteries.

I was aboard in the Mediterranean Sea off Puerto Portals, Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Isles. There was a flat-calm sea, and it was 75 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade — hardly challenging conditions. Suffice it to say, she roared and turned on cue.

Flagships are supposed to represent a builder’s best, and the Pearl 95 does just that. It will be interesting to see how owners personalize this semi-custom yacht, making it the flagship of their own fleets as well.
