The 2003 Ocean Alexander 48 Altus accommodates six guests in three staterooms, is owner-operator friendly and is on the market for $349,000.

“The 48 seemed gifted with an easily driven hull. Given throttle, she rose to a plane with little fuss and reached a maximum speed of 25.4 knots at 3,000 rpm. At 2,700 rpm I recorded a speed of 20.9 knots-a solid cruising speed with a half load of fuel and an owner’s gear on board. I recorded low sound levels and the reading of 80 dB(A) in the salon at 2,700 rpm is worthy of note,” as previously reported in Yachting.

Enjoy excursions to a private beach or just take an exploratory ride around nearby islands.

Most boaters start their journey with owner-operator-size boats, but as their enthusiasm for the pastime grows as well as their voyaging aspirations, so does the length of the boat. There comes a point where some boaters will choose to leave the helm chair and enter the crewed-yacht arena. If you’re a boater considering that move, here are 10 ready-to-roam yachts looking for new owners and new adventures.

Ocean Alexander 27R
The Ocean Alexander 27R Almost Done is on the market with just 470 hours on its twin 1,650 hp MAN diesels. Top speed is 24 knots. Asking price is $7.99 million. Courtesy MarineMax

Ocean Alexander 27R – Almost Done – Pompano Beach, Florida

MarineMax has Almost Done, an Ocean Alexander 27R, listed at $7.99 million. The low-hour 2022 build will make a lasting impression with its beach club, whirlpool spa and five-stateroom layout which has an on-deck master stateroom and three VIP staterooms in total.

The “R in this series from Ocean Alexander, stands for Revolution,” Yachting previously reported. “It’s an apt description because the series, which also includes the 88-foot 27R and 97-foot 30R, is different from anything else Ocean Alexander has built in its 40-plus years in business. Starting with the styling, which is decidedly modern and edgy, there’s a deliberate break from the builder’s more traditional look. It’s all the more notable that the appearances of both the traditional cruisers and the Revolution series come from yacht designer Evan K. Marshall.”

Sanlorenzo SL96A
This Sanlorenzo SL96A is a 2021 model with a four-stateroom layout and 29-knot speed. Asking price: $9.25 million. Courtesy Allied Marine

2021 Sanlorenzo SL96A – Gatsby – Miami, Florida

The Sanlorenzo SL96A Gatsby is currently listed with Allied Marine for $9.25 million.

“The ‘A’ in SL96A stands for asymmetric and Sanlorenzo achieves this unique design by, Conserving only the gangway on the starboard side and eliminating the one on the port side, which shifts to the roof of the superstructure,” says Sanlorenzo. “The asymmetrical configuration, seen on SL102A first, frees up about 10 square meters of space for internal use. With respect to a traditional layout, this arrangement offers more space, improving luminosity and flexibility.”

Furniture placement in the salon helps to define the yacht’s social spaces. A six-person L-shaped settee and ottoman are immediately to starboard with only a cabinet separating the settee from the sliding glass doors leading to the cockpit. A formal dining space for eight guests is adjacent to the salon’s settee, a feat only achieved because of the extra space afforded by the asymmetrical design. A flat-screen TV is mounted forward against the bulkhead separating the salon from the galley forward and to starboard, and the on-deck master suite forward and to port. A day head is just forward of the bulkhead and to port.”

Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht
The Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht Obsession has 27-knot speed, a five-stateroom layout that sleeps 10 and a two-cabin crew quarters. Asking price? $7.4 million. Courtesy Gilman Yachts

2018 Viking 93 Motor Yacht – Obsession – Stuart, Florida

Gilman Yachts has Obsession, a Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht, listed and an asking $7.4 million. The 2018 enclosed-flybridge motor yacht has charter potential with its five-stateroom layout, two crew cabins and a sub six-foot draft.

Yachting‘s initial review of the Viking 93 Motor Yacht reported how the New Jersey boatbuilder’s flagship model was based on its 75 Motor Yacht’s design, but also drew inspiration from a Viking owner’s Westport 112.

“One Viking owner also has a Westport, and Viking’s designers and top brass spent a good amount of time on board that yacht learning how to nail down the needs of owners in that size range. What Viking developed from that experience is a boat built for socializing, one that lets hands-on owners feel at home while enjoying mega-yacht features.”

Hatteras M90 Panacera
Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels with just 500 hours on them give Jetstream a reported 24.7-knot top-end speed. Courtesy Atlantic Yacht and Ship

2019 Hatteras M90 – Jetstream – Key Largo, Florida

The Hatteras Yachts M90 Panacea called Jetstream is listed with Atlantic Yacht & Ship for $10.3 million. The 2019 build has an options list that totals more than $2 million. The motoryacht has a four-stateroom, five-head layout that sleeps 10.

This yacht can go the distance or go quickly. Captain’s choice. Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels provide power on Jetstream, giving it a reported 24.7-knot top speed and a 22-knot cruise speed. The engines have just 500 hours on them. Jetstream also has a Bahamas-friendly 5-foot-7-inch draft.

This Hatteras M90 Panacea has the performance, but it also has luxury cruising comfort. The salon feels thoroughly modern, thanks in part to the white-oak sole and light-tone furnishings. Frameless house-spanning windows and indirect lighting adds a sense of elegance and enhances the salon’s open feeling.

2019 Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge – Lanikai – Seattle, Washington

Alexander Marine has Lanikai, an Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge, listed for sale with an asking price of $9.8 million. The 2019 motoryacht has a five-stateroom layout, a crew quarters and engines with very low hours. Let’s take a closer look.

When Yachting first reported on the 100 Skylounge we noted at the time that “Ocean Alexander already offers a 90-footer with a four-stateroom layout whose guest spaces would qualify as VIP suites on most yachts. With its OA 100 Skylounge, the builder has added an on-deck master, much like the kind aboard superyachts. That’s one reason why Ocean Alexander calls the 100 Skylounge the entry-level yacht in its six-model mega-yacht series, which stretches up to 155 feet length overall.”

The refit included servicing all equipment and systems, updating soft goods, adding a dining area, transforming the flybridge into an enclosed skylounge and repainting the upper deck space.

Twin 1,550 hp Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines work with the yacht’s planing hull form (with 13.5-degree transom deadrise) to help propel this 100-ton motoryacht to a 20-knot top hop and a 14-knot cruise speed. The engines have just over 2,000 hours on them.

Champagne Lu Lu is a 2004 Ocean Alexander 58 that has been well maintained and upgraded over the years by its owners and is on the market at $995,000.

Alexander Marine stated that “when the legendary designs of Ed Monk and the exacting standards of Ocean Alexander come together, it’s time to raise your expectations. The 58 will change how you see any other motor yacht in its class. Some of the finest naval architects in the world have specified a classic, raised pilothouse design, but Ocean Alexander executes it with a level of safety and seaworthiness few can match. For all her renowned stability, the 58 is still astonishingly agile and filled with uncommon luxury, taking you beyond a mere destination to a state of mind”.

The yacht’s split-level interior design helps separate the salon space from the helm station forward. Note the rich wood finishes. Courtesy Alexander Marine

“This yacht is meant for long-legged cruising; you could live comfortably on her for a long time, and feel safe and secure taking her just about anywhere. And you’d feel justifiably proud all the way. The craftsmanship and attention to detail make the boat. The joinerwork in the book-matched Burmese teak is exceptional,” Yachting previously reported.

Powered by twin 700 hp Caterpillar C-12 diesel engines, Champagne Lu Lu can quickly spool up to 20 knots. But it’s not all about speed on a 2004 Ocean Alexander 58. Dial it back to around 13 knots and enjoy the luxury, comfortable ride and the views.

I have to start with my favorite spot on this yacht, the salon. Stepping inside through a stainless-steel- framed glass door from the cockpit, the first thing you notice is the custom exotic woodwork that glows in the light. It’s warm, providing an immediate feeling of relaxation. Recline in one of the leather loveseats to port or kick back on the sofa to starboard. Large windows let natural light flow inside while providing ocean views.

The galley is forward of the salon and to starboard, just abaft the helm. Across is a set of steps that lead to the flybridge and a U-shaped dinette. The U-shaped galley has plenty of counter space for food prep, and owners can prepare just about any type of gourmet meal using the cooktop, oven or microwave. Stow your cold goods in the oversized refrigerator/freezer and other galley accessories in the cabinets.

Primary access to the flybridge is via a set of steps in the cockpit. Guests can relax in a U-shaped settee that is shaded from the sun under the hardtop or join the captain in one of two Stidd helm chairs.

Guests can enjoy the open-air environment and sweeping views from the flybridge underway or choose to lounge around while grilling in the cockpit. Dive in and take a dip off the swim platform, or unload and take the tender out for a spin. T

Some of electronics on board Champagne Lu Lu include:

  • 2 x Big Bay 17-inch daylight LCD monitors
  • Furuno Navnet radar/plotter/depth
  • Furuno 6 kW radar
  • Furuno WAAS GPS
  • Furuno 1 kW black-box sounder
  • Icom VHF radio
  • Robertson AP25 autopilot
  • Simrad IS wind display
  • Si-tex MDA1 ASI new 2015
  • Computer and Nobletec Time Zero software
  • Notable upgrades include:
  • Complete Awlgrip paint job on hull and house-2019
  • New shaft seals-2019
  • New hardtop-2019
  • Bottom paint-2021

After a long day on the water, owners and guests can turn in for the night in one of three staterooms.

Ocean Alexander 58

The exotic-wood theme extends into the master stateroom. Wood pillars, large mirrors and a queen-sized berth bring a cozy, homelike feeling. Owners have an en suite head and more than enough stowage space with under-berth drawers, chest drawers and full-length hanging lockers.

Guests will also feel spoiled in the spacious forepeak VIP with a queen-sized berth, entertainment center and plenty of stowage with a full-length hanging locker, and more. The third guest stateroom has two side-by-side twin berths with full-length hanging lockers. A head with a full-size shower is located just across from the third guest stateroom.

For those looking to make a step up in the 70-foot range, Worth Avenue Yachts has Forever Intrepid, a 2016 Ocean Alexander 72, listed at $2.695 million.

Boat owners Michael and Jeanne Wilkins could be the inspiration for the next owner of this 2016 Ocean Alexander 72 for sale. The cruising couple, who owned 30- to 40-foot boats, worked their way up to their own Ocean Alexander 72, Yachting previously reported. “They started looking at Ocean Alexander 68s. Their broker suggested they build new instead. “I said, ‘Gosh, we’d never order a new boat. That’s just not going to happen,’” Michael recalls. “This past winter, in Seattle, they took delivery of their Ocean Alexander 72. It was customized with the galley layout Jeanne preferred, the open flybridge steps Michael wanted and a redesigned flybridge layout for dinner parties.”

The motoryacht’s Evan K. Marshall-designed interior has a warm ambiance throughout thanks to rich satin finishes, light neutral tones and natural light from an array of windows. Entering the salon through the sliding glass door, there is an L-shaped sofa to starboard and lounge chair forward. An L-shaped bar forward and to starboard makes serving guests at happy hour seamless.

Past the forward bulkhead and up a few steps is the pilothouse, which has the galley to starboard, L-shaped dinette to port and helm station forward. The lower helm station has a single helm chair. A pantograph door to starboard offers side-deck access, a nice touch for owner-operators or when shorthanded cruising. The galley has a Kenyon electric cooktop and an array of JennAir appliances, including, an electric oven, a dishwasher, a refrigerator and a microwave.

There are two major outdoor entertainment spaces on board Forever Intrepid: A dining area in the cockpit and a two-person sun pad on the foredeck. For those who want to change up the scenery, launch the 14-foot Novurania tender via the 1,500-pound davit on the flybridge and any beach, sandbar or shoreside eatery are within reach. The forward section of the all-weather-capable flybridge has an isinglass enclosure. The two-seat helm station is forward with a wet bar abaft and to port and an L-shaped dinette to starboard.

There are three staterooms belowdecks, including a full-beam master stateroom amidships with private access via salon stairs to port. Amenities include a king berth, a 46-inch flat-screen TV, and an en suite head. Forward, the forepeak VIP has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head. The third guest stateroom has over-under berths, making it a great space when the kids are in tow.

Carlisle Royale, a 2015 Ocean Alexander 85, has four staterooms, a 2,000-nautical-mile range, 23-knot speed and is asking $3.69 million.

The salon has an elegant vibe, accented by wood veneers and cabinets in a diamond wood-grain pattern. There is a custom dining table and granite countertops at the wet bar and the TV cabinet. Side and forward windows allow natural light into the salon and allows guests who are seated at the port side L-shaped sofa to enjoy panoramic views. Enjoy a bottle of wine from the wine cooler located inside the cabinet, while dinner is being prepared. Sliding glass doors offer direct access to the cockpit.

The galley is located forward of the salon in an open arrangement. I thought I preferred an aft-galley arrangement, but after seeing the layout of Carlisle Royale, I’m torn. With quick access to stairs going from the pilothouse to the flybridge, owners can quickly access the festivities up top while also entertaining guests in the salon and the cockpit. It’s a smart setup. Large countertops with a stainless-steel sink provide plenty of room for meal prep, and an electric cooktop, microwave and oven allow owners to prepare meals while cruising. Stow cold goods in a full-sized, 36-inch Jenn-Air refrigerator, and galley accessories/dry goods in the numerous cabinets. Clean up is made easy with a Whirlpool garbage disposal and under-counter dishwasher. Take a coffee break at the breakfast nook forward of the galley.

The motoryacht’s single-seat lower helm station is located forward and to port with side-deck access via a pantograph door. Carlisle Royale has a hefty 167,000-pound, blue-water ready displacement, but this yacht can run when desired. Powered by twin 1,600 hp MTU diesel engines, this 2015 Ocean Alexander 85 will spool up to almost 24 knots. Throttle back to a leisurely 10-knot cruise speed and range extends to around 2,050 nautical miles. Some of Carlisle Royale helm technology and upgrades include:

  • Keypower hydraulic bow thrusters
  • Keypower hydraulic stabilizers
  • Hydraulic steering system
  • Furuno DRS12A Radar
  • Furuno GP33OB GPS
  • Furuno Navpilot 700
  • Furuno M604A VHF
  • Furuno Fishfinder DFF1
  • Furuno AIS with NMEA GPS
  • Furuno FA70001A Multi-station system
Ocean Alexander 85 Carlisle Royale
Low-profile furniture, generous glass and mirrors work in concert to create a sense of volume in the salon. Courtesy MarineMax

Carlisle Royale’s flybridge is protected by a fiberglass hardtop with an electric sunroof over the helm. Fire up the grill and cook a few hamburgers for lunch, there plenty of seats are available at the C-shaped cushioned settee with table. Or entertain guests from the wet bar while watching a baseball game in the open-air environment. Relax in the Jacuzzi tub on an evening jaunt down the coast, or launch the tender for an excursion to a private beach.

The yacht’s swim platform and aft deck have barefoot-friendly teak soles. Enjoy a meal in the shade on the aft deck’s cushioned bench-style settee with table, or walk around to the foredeck to enjoy some fun in the sun on a set of sun pads. Take a dive into the ocean from the swim platform, which also has plenty of room for a couple to sit out and catch a few rays.  A set of stairs on the aft deck provide easy access to the flybridge.

After a long day of entertaining, owners can retire to one of four staterooms. The owners’ stateroom has a king-sized berth with en suite head. Two night stands, a built-in vanity on the port side and a sofa to starboard offer the comforts of home. His-and-hers sinks, a shower, a vanity and heated bathroom soles add to the elegance. There’s also a VIP stateroom with a queen berth and en suite head as well as guest staterooms with single and double berths.

MarineMax Yachts stated, “This yacht is guaranteed to elevate your boating experience to a whole new level. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, every inch of this vessel exudes elegance and sophistication. The 2015 Ocean Alexander 85 boasts a spacious and beautifully-designed interior, perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying quality time with family and friends. With its expansive salon, luxurious staterooms, and state-of-the-art amenities, this yacht offers a sanctuary of comfort and relaxation on the water.”

“Everything you need to know about the Ocean Alexander 70e is summed up in that “e” tacked on so casually to the end of the name,” Yachting previously reported. “It stands for Evolution, an apt descriptor for this 70-footer…”

“So what’s new? Well, start with the Volvo Penta IPS pod drives. This is the first OA with pods, and the setup reflects the modern thinking that went into this yacht. The 70e is also the first Ocean Alexander built in the United States. And mega-yacht designer Evan K. Marshall, working with Ocean Alexander U.S. Director Richard Allender, achieved several evolutionary changes.”

When it’s time for sundowners with friends, the foredeck has a forward-facing bench seat and a three-person sun pad. Courtesy Atlantic Yacht & Ship

Exterior changes focused on oversize hull-side ports and a stylized European superstructure that are reminiscent of a much larger yacht, while the main-deck interior saw an increased focus on opening up the space, meaning clear sightlines from the cockpit to the pilothouse windows. Atlantic Yacht & Ship Inc. currently has Sunny Seajay, a 2021 Ocean Alexander 70e, listed and asking $3.45 million.

Sunny Seajay’s outside entertainment spaces are abundant. Guests can choose shaded alfresco dining in the cockpit with bench seating and a fixed table aft or select the dinette to starboard under the flybridge hardtop. There’s a wraparound settee and table on the after section of the flybridge  for a fully open-air dining experience too.The foredeck has a three-person sun pad and bench seat for catching rays.

Stepping through the aft sliding glass door, the salon has a white-washed satin-finish oak and ‘chrome’ upholstery palette. The multi-tiered main deck is split into three distinct zones, dictated by a simple step up. The aft lounge area has a sofa to port and an L-shaped settee with an ottoman to starboard. Forward and up a step are floating stairs to port leading to the flybridge. The galley is to starboard, which is equipped with an array of appliances, including:

  • Franke Sink with Franke pull-out faucet
  • Fisher-Paykel refrigerator
  • 30-inch Jenn-Air microwave
  • 30-inch Jenn-Air electric induction cooktop
  • Whirlpool garbage disposal
  • 30-inch Jenn-Air electric convection oven
  • Bosch dishwasher
  • 15-inch Jenn-Air trash compactor

Farther forward is a helm station and formal dining area. An L-shaped dinette offers a comfortable dining nook under the raked windshield with two Stidd helm chairs adjacent to it.

When it’s time to turn in for the evening, four staterooms are belowdecks and sleep up to eight guests. Amidships, the full-beam master stateroom has a king berth and an en suite head. Forward to starboard is an en suite guest stateroom with side-by-side berths. The guest stateroom to port has over-under berths. The forepeak VIP guest stateroom has an island berth with en suite head.

The 70e is a quiet yacht too. Ocean Alexander went to great lengths to create robust sound attenuation. High-density structural foam allows for high temperature resistance and an advantage in thermal and acoustic insulation. A marine-grade aluminum beam provides greater rigidity, reduces movements and “abrasive” sounds while underway. The builder also utilized multiple insulation barriers, including reflective materials, absorptive materials, dampening materials, air pockets and flexible Isolation mounts. Additionally, the Ocean Alexander reinforced the collision bulkhead and used its infusion lamination manufacturing technology on all fiberglass.

Power for this Ocean Alexander 70e comes from twin 1,000 hp Volvo Penta IPS 1350 diesels, which give the yacht an 18-knot fast cruise and a 28-knot top hop. Slowing to 10 knots increases range to 980 nautical miles.

Some other notable features on board Sunny Seajay include:

  • Garmin 8600 Series blackbox with four 17-inch displays
  • Garmin 120W open-array fantom radar
  • Garmin Autopilot GHP Reactor
  • Garmin VHF at Heim (F8 and PH)
  • Garmin AIS with NMEA GPS
  • Garmin Sonar Module with transducer
  • Garmin marine camera (2x engine room, 3x aft deck)
  • KVH TracVision HD7 with DIRECTV receivers
  • RC12 Electric windlass, 88-pound anchor with 150-foot anchor chain
  • 2x Kohler 24 KW genset includes 5-year warranty
