In the salon, a lighter nut color satin finished cherry joinery with Lacewood trim and large volume-enhancing windows create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Hargrave Custom Yachts says the owner of the 114-foot Hargrave Brandi Wine has dropped the semi-displacement vessel’s asking price by another $250,000. Brandi Wine is now being offered at $3.75 million.

The price, according to the brokerage team at Hargrave, is a “fraction of her replacement value.” Refit periods that took place in 2022 and 2023 included more than $400,000 worth of upgrades.

Work included new antifouling; Propspeed application; new zincs; a rebuild of the watermakers; an overhaul of navigation electronics with equipment from Garmin, Furuno, Simrad and more; the addition of Airmar transducer equipment; installation of a thermal camera and solid-state doppler radar; audiovisual upgrades including 4K Apple TVs, DirecTV servers and Bose sound bars in multiple locations on board; the addition of Starlink; and an overhaul of the hydraulics system.

Launched in 2009, Brandi Wine accommodates eight to 10 guests in four staterooms, including a full-beam owner’s stateroom. One stateroom can be set up as twin or double berths. There also are three cabins for six crew. 

Range is 1,800 nautical miles based on the fuel capacity of 7,000 gallons. Hargrave calls the refitted Brandi Wine the best yacht in her class in the United States, with equipment such as zero-speed stabilizers, three generators (two 65-kilowatt models from Northern Lights, plus a Phasor night generator), extra soundproofing, a flybridge hot tub, walkaround decks, high ceilings that are 7 feet in some places, and an oversized lazarette for toy stowage.

Maximum speed is 17 knots, with a cruising speed of 15 knots, according to the Hargrave team. The engines are twin 1,400-horsepower Caterpillar 3412Es. Engine hours were not available, but can be requested from a sales broker.

Brandi Wine is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where tours can be organized with a sales broker.

Spend a week on board during a charter: Brandi Wine is currently being advertised for charters in the Bahamas, at a lowest weekly base rate of $60,000 for eight to 10 guests. According to the charter team at IYC, the yacht cruises in the islands with a 38-foot Fountain that has a sportfishing setup and that is powered by triple 350-horsepower Mercury outboards. Ocean Alexander 27R – Almost Done – Pompano Beach, Florida

MarineMax has Almost Done, an Ocean Alexander 27R, listed at $7.99 million. The low-hour 2022 build will make a lasting impression with its beach club, whirlpool spa and five-stateroom layout which has an on-deck master stateroom and three VIP staterooms in total.

The “R in this series from Ocean Alexander, stands for Revolution,” Yachting previously reported. “It’s an apt description because the series, which also includes the 88-foot 27R and 97-foot 30R, is different from anything else Ocean Alexander has built in its 40-plus years in business. Starting with the styling, which is decidedly modern and edgy, there’s a deliberate break from the builder’s more traditional look. It’s all the more notable that the appearances of both the traditional cruisers and the Revolution series come from yacht designer Evan K. Marshall.”

2021 Sanlorenzo SL96A – Gatsby – Miami, Florida

The Sanlorenzo SL96A Gatsby is currently listed with Allied Marine for $9.25 million. 

“The ‘A’ in SL96A stands for asymmetric and Sanlorenzo achieves this unique design by, Conserving only the gangway on the starboard side and eliminating the one on the port side, which shifts to the roof of the superstructure,” says Sanlorenzo. “The asymmetrical configuration, seen on SL102A first, frees up about 10 square meters of space for internal use. With respect to a traditional layout, this arrangement offers more space, improving luminosity and flexibility.”

Furniture placement in the salon helps to define the yacht’s social spaces. A six-person L-shaped settee and ottoman are immediately to starboard with only a cabinet separating the settee from the sliding glass doors leading to the cockpit. A formal dining space for eight guests is adjacent to the salon’s settee, a feat only achieved because of the extra space afforded by the asymmetrical design. A flat-screen TV is mounted forward against the bulkhead separating the salon from the galley forward and to starboard, and the on-deck master suite forward and to port. A day head is just forward of the bulkhead and to port.”

2018 Viking 93 Motor Yacht – Obsession – Stuart, Florida

Gilman Yachts has Obsession, a Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht, listed and an asking $7.4 million. The 2018 enclosed-flybridge motor yacht has charter potential with its five-stateroom layout, two crew cabins and a sub six-foot draft.

Yachting‘s initial review of the Viking 93 Motor Yacht reported how the New Jersey boatbuilder’s flagship model was based on its 75 Motor Yacht’s design, but also drew inspiration from a Viking owner’s Westport 112.

“One Viking owner also has a Westport, and Viking’s designers and top brass spent a good amount of time on board that yacht learning how to nail down the needs of owners in that size range. What Viking developed from that experience is a boat built for socializing, one that lets hands-on owners feel at home while enjoying mega-yacht features.”

2019 Hatteras M90 – Jetstream – Key Largo, Florida

The Hatteras Yachts M90 Panacea called Jetstream is listed with Atlantic Yacht & Ship for $10.3 million. The 2019 build has an options list that totals more than $2 million. The motoryacht has a four-stateroom, five-head layout that sleeps 10.

This yacht can go the distance or go quickly. Captain’s choice. Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels provide power on Jetstream, giving it a reported 24.7-knot top speed and a 22-knot cruise speed. The engines have just 500 hours on them. Jetstream also has a Bahamas-friendly 5-foot-7-inch draft.

This Hatteras M90 Panacea has the performance, but it also has luxury cruising comfort. The salon feels thoroughly modern, thanks in part to the white-oak sole and light-tone furnishings. Frameless house-spanning windows and indirect lighting adds a sense of elegance and enhances the salon’s open feeling.

2019 Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge – Lanikai – Seattle, Washington

Alexander Marine has Lanikai, an Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge, listed for sale with an asking price of $9.8 million. The 2019 motoryacht has a five-stateroom layout, a crew quarters and engines with very low hours. Let’s take a closer look.

When Yachting first reported on the 100 Skylounge we noted at the time that “Ocean Alexander already offers a 90-footer with a four-stateroom layout whose guest spaces would qualify as VIP suites on most yachts. With its OA 100 Skylounge, the builder has added an on-deck master, much like the kind aboard superyachts. That’s one reason why Ocean Alexander calls the 100 Skylounge the entry-level yacht in its six-model mega-yacht series, which stretches up to 155 feet length overall.”

2014 Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht – Done Deal – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Atlantic Yacht and Ship Inc. currently has Done Deal, a 2014 Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht, listed for sale with an asking price of $4.1 million. The 80-footer has a four-stateroom, five-head layout with accommodations for eight, and two crew cabins that sleep four.

The four staterooms include a full-beam master stateroom amidships with a centerline king berth and an en suite head. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head. The portside VIP stateroom also has a queen berth and en suite head. The final guest stateroom is to starboard and has two single berths with an en suite head.

2009 Paragon 94 – Rhapsody – Chesapeake, Virginia

Rhapsody, a 2009 Paragon 94, underwent an extensive refit by Lyman Morse in 2018. The 94-foot motoryacht is currently listed for $2.975 million with Worth Avenue Yachts, which represents a $750,000-plus price reduction.

The refit included servicing all equipment and systems, updating soft goods, adding a dining area, transforming the flybridge into an enclosed skylounge and repainting the upper deck space.

Twin 1,550 hp Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines work with the yacht’s planing hull form (with 13.5-degree transom deadrise) to help propel this 100-ton motoryacht to a 20-knot top hop and a 14-knot cruise speed. The engines have just over 2,000 hours on them.

2007 Hargrave 82 – Roxy Maria – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The 2007 Hargrave 82 Open Bridge motoryacht Roxy Maria could be a solid fit for an experienced owner-operator or for owners traveling with a small crew, according to Hargrave Custom Yachts, who built the motoryacht and is selling it for its current owners. The yacht is listed for $1.995 million.

When it comes to boat handling with or without crew, this Hargrave has upper and lower helm stations, bow and stern thrusters and two cockpit docking stations. There are also full walkaround decks and side-deck access from the lower helm station.

With regards to the interior layout, this yacht’s salon has three lounge chairs positioned around the room with a four-person sofa to port. The sole-to-ceiling, high -gloss cherry wood creates a comfortable, warm and inviting entertainment space. This interior design is from Yacht Interiors by Shelley.

2020 Ocean Alexander 84R – Panacea – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The Ocean Alexander 84R Skylounge Panacea is currently listed with Gilman Yachts for $6.65 million. The 2020 motor yacht has accommodations to sleep eight guests in its four-stateroom, five-head layout.

Yachting has previously reported that “the 84R is built via resin infusion with structural foam, fiberglass and carbon fiber, for strength at sea. Carbon fiber is applied to high-stress areas and used in construction of the sky lounge. Aluminum beams in the bulkheads and ceiling further strengthen the yacht.”

2001 Burger 85 – Checkers – Destin, Florida

Worth Avenue Yachts currently has the 85-foot Burger, Checkers, listed for sale with an asking price of $2.9 million. The 2001 build underwent an interior refit in 2023, including an updated Furuno glass-bridge navigation suite. The yacht has a three-stateroom, four-head layout, and has a main-deck day head.

Checkers can sleep six in its three staterooms, which includes a full-beam owners’ stateroom with an en suite head amidships. The owners’ stateroom features a king berth on centerline, a flat-screen TV at the foot of the bed, his-and-hers vanities, and walk-in closets aft to port and starboard.

Forward, the two guest staterooms as well as the captain’s cabin are accessible from the pilothouse stairway. The forwardmost stateroom has a centerline queen berth and en suite head. The starboard VIP stateroom also has a queen berth and en suite head. The captain’s cabin has upper and lower single berths and an en suite head.

Tami Frain was so sure about the look and feel she and her husband, Rick, wanted for Romeo Foxtrot that she could taste it. She’s as big a fan of cooking as she is of boathandling and cruising. She has whipped up memorable meals aboard all of the couple’s previous yachts, including the 98-foot Hargrave Tigers Eye, which they had for 12 years before taking delivery of the 116-foot Hargrave.

With Romeo Foxtrot, Frain envisioned turning out dishes that would please everyone, down to the youngest grandchild. And yet, everyone else was convinced that the reality of owning a yacht run by professional crew would win out. Shelley DiCondina of Yacht Interiors by Shelley says she vividly remembers one of her first conversations with Frain about the design for Romeo Foxtrot’s galley. As Frain and Rachel Wike, a designer at the company, discussed color palettes and the overall ambience with Frain, DiCondina gently told Frain, “You’re not going to cook.” Frain replied, “Yes, I am,” without missing a beat.

Today, although Frain has spent a good amount of time in the galley since the yacht’s delivery, she’s primarily discussing menus with her chef and crew at the four-person settee and corner table. And no one has a problem with the way things turned out.

It’s not often that experienced yacht owners are proved wrong. Then again, it’s not often that being proved wrong ends up being proved right about something else. When the Frains commissioned Romeo Foxtrot, they wanted a bigger yacht where their extended family could all sit together, put their feet up and relax. Being booted from the galley means Frain can spend more time with everyone (and squeeze in work when needed).

Similarly, the Frains wanted big groups of charter guests to enjoy quality time with one another. Between smart space utilization and equally smart decor choices, they’ve succeeded.

Romeo Foxtrot’s beach club is one of the best examples of how the Frains’ vision came to fruition. Tigers Eye, delivered in 2007, had no beach club. Romeo Foxtrot’s extra length allows for a fold-down transom, perfect for the grandkids to board water toys while the grown-ups keep a watchful eye from the teak swim platform or the air-conditioned, shaded lounge. There’s also a steam room and a day head. In fact, the Frains insisted on having a day head on every deck, including the sun deck—quite uncommon for a 116-footer.

Also uncommon for a yacht this length, Romeo Foxtrot has two king-berth guest staterooms and two nearly king staterooms belowdecks. The latter beds are, according to DiCondina, just 6 inches shy of true kings, which tend to be the exclusive domain of VIP and master staterooms. Most yacht owners also tend to put at least one twin-berth stateroom belowdecks for charter, with the berths capable of pushing together. The Frains felt that four nearly identical staterooms (with different accent colors) would be attractive for charter.

The Frains also created a restful stateroom for themselves on the main deck. Big windows bring light into a cozy seating area that Tami Frain especially enjoys for sipping coffee or reading a book. Rick Frain, meanwhile, likes the 85-inch TV opposite the master’s king bed. As with the rest of Romeo Foxtrot, the decor in this stateroom includes rich walnut, creamy accents, and a pop of jade in the fabrics. There’s also a trellis made of high-gloss ebony that starts at the nightstands, then flows up overhead (headroom exceeds 7 feet) and onto a wall. A trellis is also overhead in the main foyer, visually distinguishing the dining area from the salon in the open-plan layout.

From areas that guests won’t see, such as the captain’s cabin abaft the wheelhouse, to relaxation areas guests can enjoy, such as the waterfall spa pool on the sun deck, Hargrave Custom Yachts fulfilled the Frains’ desire for a much bigger boat than their previous one, with the features of even larger yachts. You could say that this combined team is cooking with gas.

Stunning Staircase

Romeo Foxtrot’s internal staircase has floating treads that spiral around a metal pole, essentially forming a sculpture in the midst of the open-plan main deck. This staircase is lighted beautifully at night. Rachel Wike of Yacht Interiors by Shelley came up with the concept.

Not Done Yet

Although the Frains just took delivery of Romeo Foxtrot in 2022, the yacht is for sale. The Frains have another custom yacht under construction. It will be their third Hargrave and slightly longer, at 118 feet, and is scheduled for delivery in time for summer Mediterranean cruising.

Rick Frain loves wood. Shelley DiCondina of Yacht Interiors by Shelley designed the main-deck dining table from one board of Mediterranean oak, center-cut horizontally. The live edges are on the inside of the table, with gray epoxy in the center. The smooth sides face guests, while the organic edges are art.

Rho Boat is powered with twin 1,800 hp Caterpillar C-32 Acert diesels and has a reported top-end speed of 18 knots, but at 12 knots range is about 1,000 nautical miles. 

Step aboard at the port and starboard midship boarding gates or via the steps flanking the Euro transom. The yacht’s swim platform has a new SeaDek sole. The aft deck is shaded by flybridge overhang and it has pull-down sun screens to port and starboard. The salon is accessed through a stainless-steel trimmed automatic sliding door from the aft deck. Immediately to port is a 55-inch flat- screen TV on a custom built Sapelli wood corner unit. A white-fabric, L-shaped sofa with throw pillows is forward of the TV. A glass-top table with stowage complements the corner. Across to starboard are two electric recliners next to a bar with three stainless-steel pedestal stools. Bar features include a Selvia marble top, an ice maker and liquor and glass stowage. Just forward of the bar is a custom cabinet with refrigerator, glass storage and a sailfish statue. All the way forward is a crystal display cabinet with custom shelving to prevent movement underway. 

The central dining table is designed for a seating of eight and boasts Sapelli and Maitore wood in a high-gloss finish with cream-colored parson chairs. The dining area is further accented by a Tiffany-style dome light fixture, which cascades subtle hints of color around the room. There are two more crystal display cabinets, one to port and one forward. There is an abundance of high-gloss cabinets with custom china sets, china teapot and serving sets and silverware settings.

The full beam galley is forward and has a teak-and-holly sole. It has granite countertops, an island countertop, four Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer drawers and more, allowing chefs to arrange almost any type of meal guests request. Dark Horse, a 2007 Hargrave Custom Yachts 78 Open Bridge, is currently listed with Luke Brown Yachts with an asking price of $1.89 million. The motoryacht has a four-stateroom, four-head layout with accommodations to sleep eight and a crew quarters aft.

Steps flanking the transom lead up to the entertainment-centric teak cockpit, which has a bench seat along the transom with a high-gloss teak table as well as loose chairs, all set under the flybridge overhang, providing protected alfresco dining. Stepping into the salon, furniture placement defines the social spaces. There’s a chair and two settees to port (one outboard, one at the galley bulkhead facing aft).
